Bristol Baptist College are in the second year of a new Urban Mission and Church Planting course and it is very applied. They have a team exploring mission in three of Bristol’s more marginalised areas including multicultural inner city as well as white marginal estates.
The aim is to develop character and skills for ministry on the streets as well as in church and Christian community. Mike Pears a tutor on the course, say, "We often find ourselves journeying with those for whom life is very hard and who struggle to keep their heads above water. We are finding an enormous sense of privilege in these friendships with an often surprising sense of the Lord’s presence."
Do you have a passion and sense of calling for ministry in our tougher urban areas? Find out more www.bristol-baptist.ac.uk/urban-mission-video

Crucible runs three intensive training weekends each year to equip Christians to follow Jesus on the margins. Two streams are available on each weekend. Each stream flows separately, but the subjects can be done in any combination:
Stream 1
After Christendom (10-11 November 2012) investigates the many opportunities, as well as the challenges, that the end of imperial Christianity presents.
Urban Challenge (2-3 February 2013) examines the dynamics of mission and ministry in our multicultural urban communities, where Christendom has faded first.
Creating New Churches (18-19 May 2013) offers resources for pioneering new churches – and new kinds of churches – in emerging cultures, and renewing existing churches.
Stream 2
Restoring Hope (10-11 November 2012) explores how, in light of God’s mission to bring shalom to all creation, we can live towards that hope and create communities of peace.
Becoming Human (2-3 February 2013) probes the dynamics of discipleship and asks how we can become more fully human as followers of the Son of Man.
Jesus Unplugged (18-19 May 2013) imagines how we might re-tell the story of Jesus today in ways that connect with contemporary cultures.
